That's one of those frustrating posts, I guess..

Ok, as you may know escena.org has been serving the spanish demoscene for quite a lot of time now. The first site I know that was doing that was lobocom demoworld that was done by jcl, meanwhile, I felt that lobocom wasn't really working well, it was cool as demoscene information, but wasn't really a community platform. So I started the project spanish demoscene center. It was really basic, everything done in HTML by hand, every update was done by hand. At some point, an old scener (Mc_Tr) gave me a hand with some cg scripts for the people list and things like that.

So, the portal was online for some months (Arroutada 7 period), and then throught demoscene-sp SiN, Real Ice, some others and I had a fight regarding the fact of having a website for our scene in our language. Real Ice already had something started and also had the domain escena.org registered, SiN was also doing what on the beginning was called spd2k (spanish demoscene center 2000 (ugly name, uh?) in collaboration with naif, and at some point we decided to join the projects in one. And some months later (Euskal 8) escena.org was released for first time.

SiN was actually doing a great job with the site, moving the site, preparing interviews, but he just got quite angry as the people didn't really used it as he was expecting. So, since then everything started to go down and down, I was always there as admin, with sml and ccm. Also at some point I did some extra code for the site and event a forum. I atually designed the v2 (4 years after the first design), but because a couple of reasons I got really pissed off (mainly the way the scene people is) and stoped the project.

However I was still moderating news, and doing a little bit of work for the site. Meanwhile sml was really doing a lot of content for the site, flash-quiz, mat adventures.. lots of stuff.. but we always were looking for more people to help us with the site. Even SiN at some point said that he needed someone to continue with it, that he just didn't feel like doing it.

So, now. Today.
escena.org is now a "Lunar and Planetary Real Estate", (in fact real ice just told me right now that the domain expired and we lost it). and.. spd.planet-d.net is giving again a 500 error as usual.

and you know what?! I DON'T GIVE A FUCK, I WON'T FIX IT!

ya sabes lo que pienso de esto... y me da tanta pena como al que más... pero ya somos mayorcitos.

Me parece bien todo. Basicamente es lo mismo que becanne, solo que arrastrandolo más tiempo... se avisó que no se continuaba, que si la queria coger alguien, se le ayudaba y tal.. todo facilidades..

No hay nada, pues al carajo!

Ok, we've not loast the domain - at the time when Trace asked me about it, I was very busy and just had a quick look and assumed the worst. In fact it simply that the dns server seems to have been hijacked. I can fix this, and probably will - the "when" kind of depends on whether anyone even cares.

I've recovered control of the domain and it will work again as intended in some hours, as soon as the DNS propagates.

Sorry about the confusion, I have other things on my mind these days (as humprey eloquently stated: "ya somos mayorcitos").

que quieres que diga... es una lastima cuando las cosas se acaban. Tanto becanne, como e.org, como un grupo de demos. Pero si no hay interés, no hay nada que hacer.
Y no digo interés por parte de los "beneficiarios" porque siempre va a haber gente que esté encantada de montarla en los foros, leer las noticias, etc, pero otra cosa es mojarse y meterse en la organización.

Eso ya es otra cosa.

un problema gordo es q el hosting está flaqueando, pero en ADA (http://ada.planet-d.net/forum/index.php? action=vthread&forum=7&topic=153) comentaban q era cosa del disco del servidor y que iban a cambiarlo... lo de agrear los rss en una web... ¿pa q si ya tienes los rss en tu agregador local? lo q se complica en todo caso es conseguir el rss de cada persona pero vamos cuestion de ir mirando y pasandose por las webs de los grupos. de todas formas el tener un foro pa discutir y pelearse es lo mejor de todo escena.org ;)

As ever... I'm late to all controversies. Man I'm surprised you got the history of escena.org... because YOU were part of it, you little fuckwit. ;P

If I remember correctly the Spanish Demoscene Center was a page YOU maintained. And you wanted something easier to maintain, something that didn't require updating HTML and uploading with each news and that's when I got engaged into it. I only got engaged in the project because you were right (as usual) in saying that nobody gave a fuck and your usual angry talk. ;P

Now that NONE of us gives a fuck and has moved onto other things... eorg is dead. Well... I'm not sorry. :)
But I'm not mad about it either. These things happen.

Real Ice has maintained the domain that is true, but I paid the domain last time it ran out, so technically (but only technically) the domain is mine. Not that I care either. I'm a happy chap and I have other worries.

Man I´m having flashbacks! I remembre the YELLOW colors of the original Spanish Demoscene Center and I remember pulling an all nighter trying to design the first version of escena.org in yellow too! X'D

I couldn't fucking bear it I hated that yellow! So I went for grey which was a lot easier on the eyes and didn't have to make any choices for colors, greyscales are coder-safe! :)

I think I didn't explain myself properly, well I just forgot to mention that spd2k was the continuation/super-improvement of spd. I thought that having that subdomain name in planet-d was making this clear but I see that wasn't clear enough :)

Btw, Real Ice's cover design for escena.org was yellow too ;)
