Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1
2 comments
The new version of the cancer is going to be released soon. I was thinking, uhhh! Firefox is doing a nice job, but, what if now Microsoft fixes all the shit in his browser and becomes better than firefox? Well, atleast firefox would made that posible.
So just went to Paul Thurrott's site (aka Microsoft fan number 1), and what a surprise!! Even Paul is dissapointed with the Beta version of IE7!!.
That really sucks!! That means that the webdevelopers will still have to do extra work to make website look properly on IE again.
Are you using IE? Check that out, switch and browse happy.

I've been testing and doing audio experiments with some music programs since 1999. Impulse Tracker was the first one, then I moved to Fruity Loops, tried then Cubase and all those, but with the one I felt better was Reason. I did a lot of music with that one and sone of well finished tunes (imho). After all that time, the guys of roterfleck offered me to release an EP under their label and that made me very happy ;) Alex Martin @ roterfleck did all the mastering with a selection of my latest tunes (thanks a lot m8!), and as my latest test were quite Dark and Terror style we decided to move it to a Poison/Terror EP.
Probably it would sound weird to you, but hope you enjoy it.

ubuntu: linux for human beings
5 comments
Some months ago Mr.Mac mentioned that he just installed ubuntu and that was quite easy to do. So, weeks after that I went to the website and I just asked for 10 CDs, and then I forgot..
Some weeks ago I received the CDs at work, I was very surprised that they actually sent them. So after testing the liveCD with good results, I had the idea to install it on the server so we were going to deal with WindowsXP+Ubuntu+MacOS at home.. Isn't that geek?
So, yesterday, I started the installation, and I expected that was going to be as easier as the liveCD was. But, after the first installation process, and ejecting the CD and then rebooting it started that GRUB Boot loader and the command line was there waiting for me.. ok.. and now what?! "press TAB for help", done.. what's that shit?! ok.. I'm happy that i got my laptop with internet connection here.. let's google about it.. ok.. boot loader.. let's learn some syntax.. examples... ok.. put that, and that.. ok, I can load windows.. reboot.. let's try boot ubuntu now.. try that.. and that.. oh! it's loading..! Kernel Panic!!.. ok.. wasn't that Linux for human beings?.. reboot.. let's try again.. uhm.. no (1hour later (3:00am) no no.. eh! uh!? what did I press? Esc? What's that menu?! OMG!! why don't they have an small text saying "press ESC to show the BOOT MENU" or so?!
Ok.. now that works.. everything works.. fine fine.. login.. ok.. how can I read the HD where i have Windows?! uhm.. google again.. what?! mount it?! oh.. ok.. that's the syntax.. ok.. i got it.. done.. Let's share a folder.. uh?! i have to install what?! samba?! what a name! ok.. how do I do that? Terminal again?! doh!..
So.. if I need to do "relative big things" I need to write weird syntax stuff with the Root Terminal? let's say it again.. wasn't that Linux for human beings?

After adding the custom RSSfeed feature, this is just what I was looking for. Perfect! Thanks google!
How long will take to MSN to copy that? :D

And now is free!! \o/ I don't know if that one was the first widget thing, but at least was one of the first I've seen. I'm these days testing it and seeing how useful it is.. You can have the same like on mac, that pressing f8 appears all those widgets, or you can change the preferences of each one and have them floating the desktop.
By now, looks like a clean, cute way to have your todo list in the screen. I'll look for rss stuff now.. :)

Everyone was blabling about the power of the bloggers, but.. all those people writing in those phpscripts with those basic design templates around the world.. What's the point of it? Do you have to subscribe to 1000 different RSS?, do you have to browse all of them eveyday?.. Doesn't makes sense..
Some days ago, sole show me technorati. Technorati is just THE IDEA, there is no a lot of work behind, but the value of it is mainly the idea.
Technorati depends of all the bloggers, but as they were (if not the first) the cleverer/commercial of the firsts they got the power now. They got the power of all the blogger community. Nice movement!!
To make it short, when somebody, using blogger or so, updates his blog, it probably will send a fast notifiction to technorati about it. And technorati will update in realtime. So, for example, if the day of the bombs in London, there was no enough info on the newspapers yet, you could search on technorati and you would find a lot of bloggers writing about it, and if there are a lot of bloggers, perhaps you could find a guy that was inside one of those trains. Can the newspapers/TV compete with that?
Now the fight will be probably about that, Google, and MSN doing their own technologies for that. But that would be interesting.. Looking forward to see how all that moves.

You would probably wondering, uh!? The porfolio is not moving, that guy is being lazy.. or perhaps.. that's what happens when someone gets a girl. Hehehe, just kidding..
Actually I did quite enough work this year but I had no time to update the porfolio. I should automatize it a little bit.
So, here are the projects added:
+ blue tuesday demo
+ robbiek experimental website
+ cic website
+ ifparty05 website
+ rsscan website
+ anniversary wines website
+ phodoob flash gallery
+ itlab.com
+ corpora software website
And I stil have more stuff to add, let's see if I find some more time for that.

Independent Game Developers

Long time ago I was little bit addicted to uplink, a hacker simulator. Somehow it explains the basic things of hacking and also is very entertaining. This week, i don't remember why, I installed it again, but this time I played to it more seriously. The problem of it is that when you're caught (usually by pasive traces) the game ends, and is quite frustrating. And I was caught again. But I'll probably play once again more seriously cleaning logs from everywhere! muhahaha!
So, checking their website, I realized that the same people developed a new game this year. I was wondering if there had the same level of the other one and decided to download it and try it.
Darwinia is something like Diablo but in a tron-rex(3d-flat-electro-game) look. It is addictive as well, it's weird, with weird render on it. But I never liked that kind of game. Anyway, check out the demo of it, it's very interesting.
So, after spending part of my weekend with these games, today, reading the Hi-Res! feed found another weird independent game.

It takes a little time to understand the controls, but hey! looks very cool :D
