playboymansionparty
Less than 5 days and I'll be there on a proper party in Spain. Without nerds in front of the computer 48h+, without totally drunk people, with a clever orgo, good vibes.. and all that. That sounds like ifparty. But this time there is a pool, and 3 projectors and a big meadow to do some great BBQ meanwhile watching some VJstuff and good DJsets.

http://www.playboymansionparty.com/

xplsv was invited to attend and perform on it, should be a good oportunity to test the new features added to our vjtool neon :D Kudos Shine!

So, as usual, what I have to do now is produce more effects! ;)

See you all there!

Google Sidebar vs MSN Sidebar, winner: Konfabulator
Today google is releasing the v2 of his desktop search. It's not really the v2. It's his desktop search AND a the new product Google Sidebar (All that is starting to be a bit confusing).

As any other geek I just tried asap, and learnt how was working everything, just checking how google managed to do the sidebar. And I have to say that some bits were very clever. Some others simply weren't (no changing the colour of the rss entries read, no adding the favicon for each rss entry..) I also installed some extra plugins for it, and also checked the activeX things.. I learnt everything about it and just realized that was conflicting with my konfabulator things.. there was a weather on it, there was a todo list as well..

So I just closed Konfabulator and was using the sidebar for a bit. But 30min later I was closing the sidebar and using just the deskbar. And starting Konfabulator again. It was veeery confusing and veeery distracting.. There was a lot of information on it. Simply as that.

I tried MSN sidebar before as well, and was the same shit.

Konfabulator forever! But hey.. somebody should do a selection of the best widgets!

Primer, part2
I still have the plot of the movie in my head. Still spending a lot of hours during the day reading the website forums and also I watched it today as second time (with previous research). I think I understood a lot now (part of my confusion is the VO english fact tho). And as I spent a lot of time of it my mind just decided to bought the DVD just to hear Shane's comments and then, perhaps, think again.

It is still very admirable how Shane was able to concentrate in this project a do such a good masterpiece. And once again it hurts me as I'm not able to just concentrate in 1 thing. In fact I can't concentrate in 1, I need atleast 2, and when I do 2 I have to do a third one.. doh! When is all that going to stop?!

Well, this is just another fact that I really need to sort and organize my time and prioritize projects. That's the second fact that makes me think that today :)

PS: So that's the world of piracy, thanks to emule I 've seen that movie, and I'm going to buy the DVD. That's how it should be :)

Tiger x86 on my dell6000
Yeah! I had finally my geeky evening and after download the needed files during all the weekend I'm finally writting this post from Deer Park Alpha 2 (Firefox x86) :D

How I did it?
I just followed this how-to. There was some problems with ubuntu, as the HD was not really HDA, but wasn't too hard to fix.

Is it fast?
It starts faster than windowsXP in that machine :O!

Should I do the same?
Not yet.. as it's a ultra hacked version, some features doesn't work properly and also safari was crashing all the time (that's why I'm using firefox x86 ;). Also, the screen doesn't want to be at 1920x1200 :P There is no option. I'll probably do a bit more of research about how to fix these things.. And also, looks like rosseta doesn't want to work here :/

Anyway, it's quite cool.. The problem wasn't the machine, the problem was the OS! ;)

American injection
This weekend was one of those were you got too much stuff to do that you (hapilly) decide to do nothing. So I did basicly that.. nothing. But better than watch the tv, or sleep to much I usually watch some of those movies that are waiting on the server's HD. Somehow, and I just realized now, I did like an American session, the movie I seen the last weekend was Sin City, as story wasn't really my stuff, my I like the aesthetics of the image and some bits. Quite enjoyable.

But this weekend the quality was much better. Tho the start was quite poor with Batman Begins, a coworker spoke me about it and told me that was more about the psycology about batman (daba daba daba).. Was a little bit boring.. and the car this time is UGLY. Then, the next one was Stella Street. I don't know exactly where did I get that one from but It was quite weird. The story is quitre simple and absurd.. Jack Nicholson, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino and some other celebs decide to go to live to Surbiton (an almost unknown London neighbouthood). Was quite funny as surbiton looked like East Acton (the first neightbourhood I was living when I moved to London). All the celebs are actually 3 different actors, the quality of the film is almost like Home Alone, but was very funny to hear all those deep-english accents.

And the final one (and the best), was Primer. A masterpiece done by almost one guy (Shane Carruth). I will need to watch it like 2 or 3 times more to complete understand it but everything, sound, feeling, image, story was veery interesting. The most amazing part is the story of Shane doign the movie. Read some bits here. (I'll add that one to my personal list :D)

"Your computer was recently updated..."
".. and Windows had to restart."

What?! Oh.. Ok! Who was the genius that had this time that idea on Microsoft?! They were doing it very well with the updates. But.. who had the idea to restart the computer without wait for the user approval? So, for example, you got a 3D animation to deliver on monday, and you will leave the computer doing the rendering.. But as you were working a lot you decided to go to the beach meanwhile the computer is rendering. On the beach you don't care too much, you spend a lot of time on there, then some drinks somewhere and all that.. you don't care because you know your computer is not going to crash or something, you already did a lot of renders with it.. but, oh! you arrive Saturday at midnight and your computer is showing the desktop. And the message of "Your computer was recently updated..." appears on the corner.

This didn't happened to me, but i'm sure that that will happen to a lot of people. And I don't really see an easy way to configure that so I can asume that for a normal user is imposible.

Thanks again M$!

Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1
The new version of the cancer is going to be released soon. I was thinking, uhhh! Firefox is doing a nice job, but, what if now Microsoft fixes all the shit in his browser and becomes better than firefox? Well, atleast firefox would made that posible.

So just went to Paul Thurrott's site (aka Microsoft fan number 1), and what a surprise!! Even Paul is dissapointed with the Beta version of IE7!!.

That really sucks!! That means that the webdevelopers will still have to do extra work to make website look properly on IE again.

Are you using IE? Check that out, switch and browse happy.

I've been testing and doing audio experiments with some music programs since 1999. Impulse Tracker was the first one, then I moved to Fruity Loops, tried then Cubase and all those, but with the one I felt better was Reason. I did a lot of music with that one and sone of well finished tunes (imho). After all that time, the guys of roterfleck offered me to release an EP under their label and that made me very happy ;) Alex Martin @ roterfleck did all the mastering with a selection of my latest tunes (thanks a lot m8!), and as my latest test were quite Dark and Terror style we decided to move it to a Poison/Terror EP.

Probably it would sound weird to you, but hope you enjoy it.
